We are the Knights (that’s pronounced phonetically - cuh-nig-its - as of the movie Monty Python and the Holy Grail) Who Say Cyclic, a group of High School students, all of whom attended 6thgrade at Challenger School. At Challenger, we each gained not only a respect of the English language but also the want to change the world. Story Time!
Okay Folks, once again, sorry about the hiatus. I am almost done figuring out how magic works here (a million thanks to Sol and her genius explanations). Now, I have a few questions for everyone.
Firstly, how does color work? Is it that the object absorbs most rays and throws back the ray of the color it is, or the other way around? This is going to be important.
Secondly, can anyone think of a way a magic user could mess around with sound that would be interesting? (keeping in mind that sound is an illusion put up by our brains as a way of interpreting the vibrations of air particles by our eardrums) And no sonic booms please. That is way too cliche.
Thirdly, if a magic user (a different kind) had the power to mess around with people's memories by twiddling with the neuron connections, what would you think? How would you use this power? How can I explain all this in a world without significant scientific knowledge?!?
Thanks for reading. Here's hoping most of all these crazy questions get answered! =)

Firstly, the object absorbs most rays and throws back the ray of the color it is. Correct me if I'm wrong, Mira/Baldr/Odin. Seriously, Odin, you should jump in here, you're the science guy in this organization.
ReplyDeleteSecond... um. DOn't know enough about sound to answer.
Third, my science class actually learned in-depth about neurons and such, so call me and we can work out more kinks. =)
Thank you so much!!! I have been thinking about this a lot over the past
ReplyDeletefew days, and with a little genre changing I realized how to fix most of
the problems. Also, I threw Alonzo out, so I hope none of you were
attached to him. Anyone know any good names for boys other than Calvin? I
can't find my book of names, so I'm having a hard time thinking of stuff.
Thanks for the neuron help Sol. I have been reading about it, but I'm
definitly going to call you in a few days with a couple of questions.
um, messing with brain nuerons? well, if I were to commit a murder *clears throat, but not at all suspisiosly* and someone saw me, I would probably want to "modify their memory" so that I wouldn't get caught.
ReplyDeletesounds?
um...
make things louder/softer, block sound from traveling, throw your voice (make it sound like it comes from somewhere else), change what people are saying...
Oh, this sounds like an amazing story! Let me read it when you're finished! Yes, indeed, color is when an object absorbs most rays and throws back the one you perceive. Sol was correct. For sound waves, I think it would be cool if they had the power to do things such as change the way people hear things so that communication with others is disturbed. For example, if two people were talking, the magician could use his/her power to make one of the people hear something completely different than what was truly being said. It would also be interesting if they could call sound waves to them, similar to the "languages" in Goose Girl, etc. So the person could basically use sound waves like Izzy used the wind. That way, they could hear things being said miles away, etc. With the brain neurons, well, I suppose they could kidnap kids with amazing magical potential and rewire their brains so that they can use their powers. I can't type all of this. Text me if you want more help, ok?
ReplyDeleteCool-io, we're got some good ideas going 'round here. Seriously Odin, we'd ALL love it if you could join in...
ReplyDeleteHas this been helpful Laga? Anything you want more details on?
This is all brilliant, any you are all such geniuses!!! I have started rewriting, bit the going's slow. I may have something presentable by Tuesday, If I'm lucky. What do you all think of the name river?
ReplyDeleteCool-io! I am waiting with bated breath. =) So are you still going with cutting what's-his-name out? The name River is nice, but a little 70's-ish. But, I mean, if it feels like it fits with the story, the setting, and the guy's personality, then sure.
ReplyDeleteFor guys names... well, I've always liked the name Derek. Jayson. Jellal. ?
ReplyDeleteOoo, Jayson, that's nifty. Edmond, Hansel, Zander ( =) ), Alexei...
ReplyDeleteWhoa. These are great names, and you're right, River is nice but doesn't fit him. Anybody mind if I use these? I am partial to the name, but Derek just fits! And Edmond (always a winner) and Alexei are cool!!!
ReplyDeleteDerek, cool-io, sure. And I'm still waiting for your Tuesday post =)
ReplyDeleteHahaha Sol, I know! Jayson is just an awesome name. Jellal came from an anime... (gasps from Sol and Laga) But anywho, I'm glad you liked the name Derek, Laga!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen a lot of anime, but shockingly I actually liked it! I'm working on the post... the villains need some characterization and I'll be good to go, but I have an essay to write and four tests to study for, so it might not happen today, or even this week.
ReplyDeleteYAY! Laga likes anime too! I recommend Spirited Away, definitely, and Kiki's delivery service, and most definitely Nasicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Pretty much anything by Miyuzaki. Oh and I want to read your story after you finish! Good luck with your essay and tests 0.o
ReplyDeleteOkay, wow! All I saw was the first volume of Romeo X Juliet, by I will try some of those! Thanks, the essay is finally starting to go well. I dislike war novels. =P
ReplyDeleteYou should! All of them, especially Spirited Away and Nasicaa, are amazing! Rozen Maiden is really good too. Yes, I agree about the war novels. I'll read them in school and like them, but honestly I'd probably never read them for fun :(
ReplyDeleteThey're fine when you can read discuss, and then let go of them, but writing essays about how war destroys you? It isn't much fun.
ReplyDeleteYaaaayyyy, war essays, my favorite! After just about everything else...
ReplyDeletepiT 4 U, Laga =)
(Excuse the intentionally informal and recognizably incorrect text-talk please ~)
What does piT mean? And it's okay! I don't have anther essay for weeks now! =)
ReplyDeletePity, I just wrote a "T" for the "ty" sound. On an entirely unrelated side-note, I'm reading Julius Caesar in class now =) I wish we were reading one of Shakespeare's more intricate plays though. JC isn't really rocket-science =( And with that, and the observation that I do have to prepare for an upcoming 7 tests taking place in the next two days, I leave you with a courteous and respectful "adieu."
ReplyDeleteAdieu...
Ahahaha Sol you make me laugh. :) Good luck on your tests :) And Laga, I hope yours went well! I have three tests to make up for missing one day of school due to Bronchitis... D:
ReplyDeleteAhh! Making up schoolwork is so hard in High School. I missed 1/2 a day on Monday and was incapable of doing any work on Tuesday and it took almost all week to make that up. =( Sorry you had bronchitis, are you well now?
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say thanks so much for the anime recommendations Mira!!!
ReplyDeleteI love anime now!!! *Grins happily at getting to explore a WHOLE NEW PREVIOUSLY UNDISCOVERED GENRE!!!*
By the way, can you reccomend any good manga?
Hahaha yay! We can watch it together tomorrow or sometime soon, because I'll be in UTAH!!!! :D I absolutely love anime and manga, you would not believe it. One thing I have to say though, is that before you start a series, do some research first. Some of them can be a tad inappropriate. 0.o Fruits Basket was amazing to begin with, but from book 12 it started going downhill. Hmmm. That depends on which kinds of animes you like. Shoujo, realistic, dramatic, romances??? Anything in particular? I loved DN angel, and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha was great (I watched the anime), Shugo Chara is good, kind of like a less dramatic sailor moon. Bleach, hmmm.... It's an anime, and it's very good, but it has over 350 some episodes... -_- I have not finished yet. I'm on episode 56 or something. Rozen Maiden is an amazing anime, and I heard the manga is good. Uhhh, this is too much to type. I'll talk to you in Utah about it! Oh, but be forewarned, manga books are expensive, usually running around 10.99 per volume.
ReplyDeleteOkay. Thanks so much!!!
ReplyDeleteHey hey hey!!! I just read a really good manga book called "I am Here!" I thought it was one of the best I've ever read. Only the first volume is out right now, but I think you should give it a try. Also, Pandora Hearts is good, Black Butler is good, but quite violent... which is why I haven't read beyond volume 2. But everyone I know says that the plot gets incredible later on.
ReplyDeleteWell, I just re-read Animal Farm!!! (Yes, Laga, in one sitting. Wasn't as bad as the first time... but almost worse at the same time with my better background now)
